Actually, the only stock you can buy in GM is the stock in the "old" GM which will be worth nothing. Eventually, the "new" GM (the one that owns GMC, Chevy, etc.) will issue new stock as an IPO (experts don't expect that to happen until 2010 or 2011 if then) and that stock (assuming good outcomes from the restructuring) may be a good investment. But the stock now will eventually be wiped out when the old GM finishes selling off its parts and reimbursing its creditors.

The old stock now trading over-the-counter is worthless. The "new GM" stock IPO will not be held for months.

No way! They are already past bankruptcy, but that's only because they have succeeded in haggling the cost to run the companies by closing factories and lay off thousands of workers in the future! That would just created a huge negative sentiment around the market. And probably only go up like a cent or two for the next year!Maybe you could try to invest at GM when there are rumors that a certain company is going to buy most of it's share to increase it's liability. That's what usually happens to companies that has just past it's bankruptcy.Besides, GM got bankrupt because the consumer aren't buying them anymore. I don't think demands for GM would be any different even after this. They just got out of bankruptcy because now they can pay the stockholders and cover the past cost.

I'm kinda confused on this also. I was gonna buy last month when it hit rock bottom but got talked out of it. Had i bought it then and sold it today I would of made like $2,000, that doesn't sound worthless to me but then again I'm no stock expert.

No. The GM equity is effectively worthless.
